Glossary
Asset Emails, landing pages, and forms are called assets.
Campaign Canvas The campaign canvas defines the view we work in to assemble all the elements of the campaign: segments, emails, landing pages, forms, decision elements, as well as actions.
CXD Oracle’s Customer Experience Database. Captures contact data, digital body language (web activity, topic interest, social, downloads, chat).
Eloqua Oracle’s marketing automation tool. Used for email campaign execution landing pages, lead flow, sales tools and business intelligence.
Email group Pre-defined groups to identify the header/footer that will be applied to the email upon send. We have 50 groups: 25 languages x 2 LOBs (Alliances & Channels and all others).
Evite An electronic invitation to an event, usually in the form of an email linking to a landing page in Eloqua.
Follow-up campaign Part of multi-touch and nurture campaigns, where marketers continue a series of emails and engagement with a customer or prospect.
Follow-up sales channel A field in GCM that indicates which sales group will be responsible for following up with leads that are generated as a result of the campaign.
Form A Web interface that collects information from users.
From name (also called sender name) Authorized from name: Click here to learn best practices and guidelines regarding the name displayed as the sender of the email.
Fusion A CRM tool that gives sales visibility into lead and pipeline data.
Gated content Marketing content for which users will need to complete a form to gain access.
Gated script A script that only runs when the user is logged in to Single Sign-On (SSO).
GCM (Global Campaign Manager) Tool for marketing budgeting and execution metrics; marketing budget versus spend for marketing activities; and so on.
Landing page A web page that appears in response to clicking a search-engine-optimized search result, an online advertisement or a link in an email.
Lead scoring Giving leads a score based on their profile fit and level of engagement with Oracle. This score lets sales prioritize leads.
Marketing automation Refers to a broad range of automation and analytic tools to allow organizations to more effectively market on multiple channels online (such as email, social media, websites, etc.) and automate repetitive tasks. Oracle Eloqua is our marketing automation tool.
Nurture marketing The process of building relationships by giving people the information they need about your business, when they need it. Nurture marketing involves reaching out to suspects, prospects, leads and clients in a systematic, consistent way to build stronger relationships.
Opt-out footer A webpage and email footer containing a link allowing the contact to unsubscribe from further emails using the central Marketing Opt-Out page.
Progressive Profiling A method for gathering smaller sets of information via on-going interactions with a prospect without having to use a single lengthy form.
Response campaign Part of multi-touch and nurture campaigns, where marketers continue a series of emails and engagement with a customer or prospect.
SiteCatalyst code HTML code that you paste into web pages to track visitor activity.
Template A document that has the basic format of something (such as an Eloqua email or landing page) and that can be used many different times. See the Demand Generation Template and Images Library for examples.
Transactional campaign/event A campaign or event that is rolled out and run across multiple countries and languages.
UCM Oracle’s internal content management system. Used for My.Oracle, Oracle.com.

Certain Glossary

Glossary
Assisted Registration form A courtesy Certain registration form on which one person registers on behalf of clients, colleagues and so on.
Attendee types In Certain, attendee types in event setup include attendee and Oracle staff.
Cancellation Registration form This form is set up to cancel an existing event registration in Certain. It can be via any registration method.
Certain (also called Certain EMS) A third-party software-as-a-service application that Oracle uses to manage events. It integrates with GCM, Eloqua and CXD and enables standard, monitored and waitlisted events.
Custom HTML Enables building sections of HTML that can be included in various parts of the Certain form. Often used to provide additional information to the attendee during the registration process.
Disclaimer script Legal text appearing in the footer of a Certain welcome or thank-you page that was created using the Disclaimer Generator, which is available in the DMS catalog.
Dynamic data field (also called a transactional data field) A field intended for information that is changed as updates to the information become available.
Dynamic Language Support (DLS) Found in some Certain master templates, indicating that the events can be set up to display in multiple languages, defined by the language parameter in Event Setup.
Event capacity (also called inventory) The maximum number of attendees accommodated by a specific event in Certain.
Event manager The Oracle resource who is responsible for monitoring registrations and approving or denying waitlisted and monitored registrations in Certain.
Event reminder email A notification that the users set up in Certain to remind registrants of the upcoming event.
Evite An electronic invitation to an event, usually in the form of an email linking to a landing page in Eloqua.
Externalizing an event The process of publishing a Certain event to events.oracle.com for visibility by users outside of Oracle.
Follow-up sales channel A field in GCM that indicates which sales group will be responsible for following up with leads that are generated as a result of the campaign.
Footer country code A field in the Additional Event Information page of Certain, used to derive the footer and display it in all online pages.
Form A Web interface that collects information from users.
Form sequence The Fields to Display list under Forms Setup in Certain, which shows which forms to display and in what order. In addition to forms, this list can include questions, page breaks and new pages.
Fusion A CRM tool that gives sales visibility into their leads.
Gated content Marketing content for which users will need to complete a form to gain access.
GCM (Global Campaign Manager) Tool for marketing budgeting and execution metrics; marketing budget versus spend for marketing activities; and so on.
GMSS Portal (informally called request portal) Central communication tool between Marketers and GMSS. The GMSS Portal is used as a project request, management and workflow tool and tracks and supports all marketing execution activities globally.
Inventory (also called event capacity) The maximum number of attendees accommodated by a specific event in Certain.
Language parameter A setting in Certain Event Setup that defines the language in which the event information displays.
Lead scoring Giving leads a score based on their profile fit and level of engagement with Oracle. This score lets sales prioritize leads.
Logic Enables Certain logic rules that can cause certain elements in the form to display only when the rule criteria are satisfied.
Marketing automation -
Master template Certain templates that users apply to create an event. Master templates include DLS – Standard In Person, Standard – Partner Event and DLS – Standard Webcast.
Merge field A Certain field that, when merged with a data file, inserts the corresponding data at the location of the merge field. For example, the merge field {firstname} would be replaced with Amy, Akshatha, Andrew and so on.
Monitored Approved confirmation A Certain notification that goes to approved registrants after approval by the event manager for a monitored event.
Monitored Denied email A Certain notification that goes to declined registrants after denial by the event manager for a monitored event.
Monitored registration If an event is targeted to a specific audience, this Certain form is used. Initially, the status will be pending and, based on the event manager’s review, the registration status is updated.
Multi-FUSC event This Certain Additional Event Information option is used to define whether the event has the responses flow to different follow-up channels.
My Profile form Certain form for users with an Oracle account.
Nomination-based event A Certain feature that allows Oracle marketers to create events specifically for nominated customers
Non My Profile form Certain form for users who don’t have an Oracle account.
Notifications Emails sent to registrants from Certain to notify them of changes in event registration status.
Nurture marketing The process of building relationships by giving people the information they need about your business, when they need it. Nurture marketing involves reaching out to suspects, prospects, leads and clients in a systematic, consistent way to build stronger relationships.
Payments: If an event requires payment, online payment options in Certain event setup include credit card, debit card, fund transfer and so on.
Primary form This Certain option enables the primary form with Single Sign-On (SSO).
Primary target area Certain Additional Event Information option used to specify the target area for the event and to help users locate the event in the events search page.
Questions In Certain, in event setup, users can capture survey items under Questions.
Registration Confirmation email A Certain notification that goes to registrants to inform them that they are registered for the event.
Registration support users Support staff who are on site (or online, in the case of a webcast) the day of the event to register walk-ins and perform other Certain tasks.
Registration status Certain registration statuses vary by event type and include registered, pending, approved, waitlisted, no show, attending, cancelled, denied and walk in.
Reminder email An email that can be configured in Certain to be automatically sent to event registrants to remind them of the upcoming event.
Single Sign-On (SSO) A centralized source for user authentication and identity management for Oracle web-based applications.
SiteCatalyst code HTML code that you paste into web pages to track visitor activity.
Span class The span class in Certain is defined for many of the registrant’s profile fields. Based on the language parameter selected in the Event Setup section, it retrieves the respective translation and displays it on the online pages.
Standard event template Certain templates that users apply to create an event. Standard event templates include DLS – Standard In Person, Standard – Partner Event and DLS – Standard Webcast.
Standard registration Certain form used to register users for a standard event.
Suppliers In Certain, in event setup, users can maintain the supplier location, such as the convention center or hotel.
Survey An instrument, often online, that lets marketers ask many people a question or a series of questions in order to gather information about what most people do or think about something.
Tele registration A Certain form used to register users via inbound or outbound telephone calls.
Test notification In Certain, before finalizing a notification, analysts send it to themselves and others for review and feedback.
Thank-you pageA web page that can be configured in Certain or Eloqua to automatically display after visitors complete an action.
Translated event weekday/dateIn Certain, when customized values are provided, they will be reflected in all the online pages and notifications pages.
UCMOracle’s content –management software.
UnicodeUnicode is a computing industry standard for the consistent encoding, representation, and handling of text.
VenueThe location at which the event will be held. The venue is captured in the Venue/Location field in Certain.
Waitlisted Pending emailAn email that can be configured in Certain to be automatically sent to event registrants to notify them that their registration is awaiting approval by the event manager depending on the event capacity.
Waitlisted registrationIf an event has inventory and order limits, this form is used to count against inventory levels and adds the registration to a waitlist.
Waitlist Waitlisted emailAn email that can be configured in Certain to be automatically sent to event registrants to notify them that the event capacity has been reached and that they have been placed on the waitlist.
WebsiteAn event website is usually the welcome page that displays content about an event to attendees.
Welcome pageA landing page that provides Certain event information (event agenda, venue and so on) with the option to register.
