Overview of Litmus

What is Litmus?

Litmus is an email testing tool with various email clients such as Mobile clients, Web-based email clients, Outlook, Cross browsers. This tool also allows us to validate the broken links, subject line, and loading speed of the images, preview text, etc.


Why Litmus?

Litmus is the most useful tool to validate the compatibility of many email clients rather than using simulators. Separate tools are not needed for compatibility testing.

Litmus Access

Obtain Access

  • Log into OIM, click on Request Access, Request for Self
  • Search for Litmus_CorpMktg in the Catalog, Add to Cart from the search results
  • Click on Next to proceed to Checkout
  • Enter the relevant Justification in the text area and click on Submit to submit your request
  • Click on Next to proceed to Checkout
  • It takes about a day or two for access provision.

Litmus Login

There are 2 ways to login to Litmus


Litmus' Webpage

  • Open the Litmus URL https://litmus.com/sessions/new in browser
  • Login page will open to enter the Login credentials
  • Enter your Oracle email id in the Email address field
  • "Single sign-on enabled” is displayed
  • Click on Continue to land on the SSO login page
  • Enter your SSO login credentials
  • You are now taken to the Litmus platform

Eloqua cloud app

  • Login to Eloqua instance, open any email that you have built
  • Click on the Cloud Apps icon on the RHS of Eloqua instance
  • Apps section is expanded, click on Email Testing: Inbox Previews
  • Enter your Oracle email id in the Email address field
  • “Single sign-on enabled” is displayed
  • Click on Continue, you will see further information about the login
  • Display of Oracle America, Inc is an indication of login
  • Close the Apps menu, re-open the Cloud Apps icon to see the preview of your email

The Litmus helps to test the email campaigns in one seamless view, also helping to streamline the production process and increase productivity.
Litmus is integrated into Eloqua through ESP, you can bring your Eloqua email directly to Litmus without sending any test email. Let us explore the following areas in detail to know more about Litmus:


Folder and Subfolders: helps to organize emails

Easily create and rename folders and subfolders to centralize emails, and make finding and sorting emails a breeze for your team.
Each folder is associated with a unique email address, which helps the team to trigger the emails to the specific folder for the respective teams’ review.
Options Move/duplicate/delete the emails from the folder based on the requirement

Summary: Review checkpoints and ensure to deliver the error-free email campaign launch.

This option helps to review the step-by-step task list, which helps reviewers to review the campaign and ensure the email launch without any issues. Task lists are available in the summary section of each email and can be customizable.
A Centralized task list is created with help of the task template option, and it is available for each email, which helps reviewers to review the email campaigns effectively.

Preview & QA: Review email renders in different clients and devices

This section helps to review the email about how it renders in different email clients and devices in real-time, also helps to reduce the production hours by reviewing the email in one place. This section also helps to provide more details about

  • Previews: It supports to provide a detailed preview of the email, how it renders in different popular desktop mail clients, mobile mail clients, web-based clients
  • First impressions: This section helps to analyse and provide suggestions about the following sections which we used in the email like Subject Line, From Name, Reply-To, Preview Text
  • Accessibility: This section helps to identify the code analysis, audits (alt tag, header tag, content type, and language type), and screen reader
  • Links: This section helps to verify if there are any broken links
  • Tracking: It helps to verify is there any click-through is being tracked by Litmus, Eloqua, or Google analytics.
  • Image Blocking: Preview your emails with image off, and alt text missing will be analysed by this section
  • Loading speed: This section analyses the email performance and gives information on how long it takes to load the email
  • Spam Testing: Identify issues that could impact your deliverability before you send- and get actionable advice on how to fix them with Spam Testing

Proof

This section helps to mark your feedback and share the proof details with the developers in real-time. Also, review points can be viewed by multiple developers and able to interact with each other about the review point through comments.

Analytics

This section helps to analyse the email performance in detail with help of the tracking code. A tracking code can be created and added to the email.

Mail Clients Used:

Click here to access the mail clients that are available in Litmus. Please select the desired mail clients to run your previews.

How to update the Settings in Litmus?
a. Go to the top-right corner and select Profile –> Settings.
b. From the left pane, select Email Clients.
c. Under My Lists, locate your Default list and click the Edit (pen) icon.
d. Refer to the document, which reflects the latest devices and mail clients available in Litmus.
e. Under each category (Desktop, Mobile/Tablet, Web-based, Other), review the available options and select only the devices and clients that are currently active and supported in Litmus.
