Millions of data points stream from record-breaking, IoT F50 foiling catamarans to the Oracle Cloud and users in less than 150 milliseconds. With powerful data at their fingertips, Australia SailGP found themselves at the front of the pack throughout five events, winning the events in Sydney, San Francisco, Marseille and Cowes, where they became the first team to eclipse the 50 knot speed barrier in a race competition. In September of 2019, the Aussies took home the winning trophy and million-dollar prize in the final, winner-takes-all race in Marseille.

Tom Slingsby

Biography: Tom Slingsby ultimately ended up selecting sailing as his sport of choice amongst others including tennis. Crediting his father for getting him into sailing aged 7, it proved the right choice. Slingsby is an Olympic champion, America’s Cup winner and nine-time world champion.

Slingsby was crowned 2010 World Sailor of the Year, earned the Australian Institute of Sport Athlete of the Year honors and has received the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2012.

Shortly after the 2012 Olympics, he joined ORACLE TEAM USA as a strategist, helping mount one of the greatest comebacks in sport when the American team won the America’s Cup in 2013. Slingsby then went on to win the 2016 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race and returned to the American team as tactician and team manager for the 35th America’s Cup.

Slingsby is the reigning champion of SailGP.

Biography: Kyle Langford served as wing trimmer for the Australia SailGP Team in Season 1 that clinched the inaugural championship and US$1 million prize with a thrilling match race victory over the Japanese crew in Marseille.The Aussies founds themselves at the front of the pack throughout five events, winning the events in Sydney, San Francisco, Marseille and Cowes, where they became the first team to eclipse the 50 knot speed barrier in a race competition.

Langford and the entire crew return for Season 2 when they’ll look to repeat as SailGP champions, beginning with the first event of the campaign on Sydney Harbour in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

Biography: Phillippe Presti has been called the “secret weapon” of past programs, and the nickname remains true for his work with the Australian SailGP Team, who were crowned SailGP Season 1 Champions.

Presti cut his teeth in Olympic classes, twice a world champion in the Finn class and then representing France in Atlanta 1996, and at Sydney 2000 in the Soling.

He raced his first America’s Cup campaign as helmsman of Le Défi Francais in Auckland in 2003. He was then with Luna Rossa in 2007 as B-boat helmsman to Jimmy Spithill and coached for ORACLE TEAM USA for the 33rd and 34th editions of the America’s Cup. If anyone knows how to coach sailing at the highest caliber, it’s Presti.
