Public Sector organisations manage vast quantities of data, including highly classified and sensitive materials. But a lack of suitable systems, resources and skills create several challenges for data custodians. For example, they struggle with data classification, broad access credentials, a lack of audit capabilities that threaten security, and to manage and modernise large databases. These factors are significant barriers against complying with regulations and the upcoming national data and cloud policy.

State organisations must adhere to strict security and data locality requirements, limiting these organisations from benefiting from public clouds for most critical workloads. Are there ways to change this, improve data management and impact the overall value of the State's ICT investments?
