Oracle Database 19c is a milestone in Oracle’s transition to a more agile release strategy. As the first Long Term Support release, Oracle 19c is ‘the’ release to upgrade your databases to leverage the latest features and get the most out of premier and extended support.

This interactive 90 minute session, we will cover the AutoUpgrade tool. AutoUpgrade, as the name implies, enables Administrators to automatically upgrade one, or many databases in a repeatable and controllable manner. You will be guided through how to build a control file – and then showed how to kick off the upgrade process.

Oracle Database 19c Upgrade Virtual Classroom - Session 3: Performance Stability, Tips, Tricks & Underscores

Change is the root of all opportunity, at least as far as technology goes. For databases, upgrades and patching bring with them the possibility of unexpected behavioural changes and an improvement in performance. In the worst-case scenario change can mean performance degradation and poor user experience.

To ensure that the worst-case scenario is less likely, Oracle Database includes multiple tools to help administrators baseline SQL performance prior to upgrade, lock SQL execution plans and perform comparative testing to reduce risk during upgrade and patching windows.

Oracle Database 19c is the final release to support the non-CDB (Container Database) architecture. Now is the time to start planning and migrating your databases in to the Multitenant architecture introduced in 12cR1.
