Inside Java Newsletter

January 2023

Welcome to the Inside Java Newsletter from the Java Developer Relations team at Oracle. Look for updates directly from the Java Platform Group — the team that builds Java.

Welcome to a New Year in Java

Hi, my name is Chad and I run the Java Developer Relations team responsible for this newsletter, Dev.java, Inside.java, our community programs (Java Champions, Java User Groups, etc), YouTube channel, Twitter, podcasts, Java Day events, speaking engagements, relationships with academia, and more. Phew, just saying all that makes me tired, and I'm grateful to my amazing team for keeping Java vibrant across such a multitude of channels.

Java is moving faster than ever. The feature pipeline is packed, the release cadence has been running smoothly, Java 20 is in Rampdown phase 2 (w/ features from Loom, Panama, and Amber), feedback on JavaOne was strong, and we're investing in efforts to engage the next generation of developers by reducing the complexity of getting started and introducing fun and exciting learning paths.

We hope you're just as excited as us about the future of Java. Are you interested in helping with its success? You can share this newsletter, tell your friends about Dev.java and Inside.java, and if you really want to roll up your sleeves, consider contributing to OpenJDK to shape the future of the platform.

Contributing isn't just about code. Tell us what you think about new features, especially if they're preview or early access. We're listening so feel free to reach out to us even if just to say hello! We appreciate you and your commitment to one of the greatest technology stories in history.

Thank you and we can't wait to see how 2023 unfolds.

— Chad Arimura, VP, Java Developer Relations
