A New Era for Java
We're witnessing the dawn of a new Java era. Java 8 rejuvenated the language with lambdas and Java 9 put it on firmer and more predictable ground with the module system and the switch to a six-month release cadence. Since then we've seen countless improvements to the language, the APIs, the runtime's performance, observability, and safety. These were incremental, but with projects Amber, Panama, Loom, and Valhalla all on the cusp of delivering their core features, Java will change fundamentally. The language will be more expressive, the runtime more scalable and performant, and the interaction with native code much smoother.
And so I can think of nothing better than to be at amazing conferences like Jfokus to talk about these projects and give attendees an understanding of what they're about, where they're at, and whats coming next for Java.
