In the wake of Threads’ meteoric rise…
Marketers have widely viewed this as the wooden stake through the heart of Twitter that will inevitably wipe out a decade‑plus of audience building for most brands. However, marketers’ reaction to that realization is split. While some wished they’d invested more in Instagram (which is tied to Threads), others are wishing they’d invested more in building their first‑party audiences in email, SMS, push, and even direct mail. We agree with the latter that jumping from one walled‑garden platform to another isn’t the best long‑term solution. Participate in social media, of course, but always with an eye to building stronger first‑party audiences.
